Support from the European Social Fund and the Free State of Thuringia
In accordance with the consultancy guidelines of the Free State of Thuringia, the company receives support for consulting and process guidance that aids strategies for the establishment or sustainable positive development and securing of SMEs. The results and recommendations for action are recorded in a consultation report. The support is provided by the European Social Fund Plus and through funds from the Free State of Thuringia.
Intensive consulting and process guidance by management consultants
In order to increase its performance and competitiveness, A.G. Thorwarth Metallwarenfabrik GmbH receives support in accordance with the consultancy guidelines of the Free State of Thuringia by way of consultancy with independent management consultants – intensive consulting and process guidance. The resulting findings and recommendations for action are recorded in a consultation report. The support is provided by the European Social Fund and through state funds from the Free State of Thuringia.
Successful re-auditing in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015
With the re-audit in 2022, A.G. Thorwarth Metallwarenfabrik GmbH was once again awarded corresponding certification. This documents regulation-compliant application for the manufacture and distribution of deep-drawn parts. The certification was conducted by TÜV Thüringen in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015.
Acquisition of a system for coating components with lubricant
We are now able to coat parts in-house with a lubricating film to reduce wear. The areas of application are primarily in the plumbing and automotive industries.
Deep-draw tools are manufactured using newly developed Weisskopf milling tools and the ultrasonic machining technology developed by GFE & TU Ilmenau. Improved wear properties are expected, so the new technological possibilities will have to be evaluated and demonstrated.
Topic: Machining of forming tools by milling with superimposed motion Funding code: 2015 FE 9044 Term: 01.07.2016 – 30.06.2018 Research association: Thüringer Aufbaubank (EFRE Research Centre 1), Ilmenau Technical University (Production Technology Department)
Machining with a geometrically determined cutting edge is an integral factor in the technological process chain of industrial production. In terms of the requirements for the materials to be machined (high-alloy steels with high degrees of hardness and strength) and the quality to be achieved (accuracy, surface quality, homogeneity), the requirement profile of toolmaking plays a special role in this.
At present, machining with a geometrically undetermined cutting edge or electroerosive processes predominate. The low ablation rates that are possible here mean a significant increase in production time. In recent years, machining with superimposed oscillation has proven advantageous in the processing of brittle-hard materials. This project aims to develop a process for milling steels using a superimposed oscillation of the tool. This includes both the clarification of the causal relationships and kinematic contact ratios, and the development of a suitable tool. The focus is therefore on qualifying vibration-superimposed machining with geometrically determined cutting edge for industrial practice in cooperation with the participating Thuringian companies and, in particular, to expand the current state of knowledge.
